Bushwalking and Cycling
Hindmarsh has plenty to offer for walkers and cyclists of all levels.
Families can enjoy short walks around our townships such as:
- The Nhill Lake, Swamp and boardwalk
- The Edward John Eyre Memorial Walk along the Wimmera River in Jeparit
- A network of tracks around the Nine Creeks Reserve in Dimboola
For those looking for something a little more in the bush there are numerous walks in the Little Desert and Wyperfeld National Parks, from short interpretive walks to extended overnight walks. Visit http://parkweb.vic.gov.au/ for more details.
Cyclists will find a variety of experiences to choose from. The town walks described above are shared tracks and easily ridable, but a get a real feel for the area why not arm yourself with a good map and explore some of the country backroads or perhaps the tracks along the Wimmera River. Please note that tracks around lakes and watercourses may be quite sandy in sections.
Please have a look at the Plan a Safe Trip page before heading out for a walk or ride.
Nhill Park Run
Part of the global "Parkrun" network, Nhill hosts Parkrun every Saturday morning at 8am, at Jaypex Park (on Western Highway). The shaded and scenic course makes its way from Jaypex Park to Nhill Lake.
The well developed walking trails along the Wimmera River in Dimboola offer some great walking experiences for the whole family.
